My boys go back to school tomorrow, so today is the final day of the Easter holidays.ย We’ve had a busy couple of weeks – here’s what we’ve been up to:
Cooking
We made cream eggs using this recipe. It was really simple and they tasted surprisingly similar to the real thing:
Camping
We went camping in Dorset. It was so cold we had to put things in the cool box to stop them freezing! We had a great time, despite the weather, and went for a lovely cycle ride on a disused railway track. We also did lots of walking in the countryside around the campsite. ย Here I am trying to keep warm by cuddling a coffee and wearing three pairs of trousers!
Activities
The next weekend we went to a PGL adventure centre with my son’s rugby club. It was great to see my boys having fun and conquering their fears:
Walks
We’ve also had lots of walks in the local woods and met up with friends:
Now it’s back to normality and back to the books. I’ll return on Tuesday with a post about my thoughts on the Women’s Fiction Prize Shortlist. Fingers crossed the best books make it through!
I hope you’ve had a wonderful Easter too!

Sounds like a lovely holiday! Camping sounds fun, if cold.
Yes, it would have been nice if it had been a bit warmer, but we had fun anyway ๐
What a hardy family! I just saw on Facebook a little cartoon that said “My idea of roughing it is sitting on an uncomfortable chair to read.” and that expressed my sentiments exactly! ๐
LOL!
Wonderful holiday but pity about the cold. We only had Good Friday and Easter Monday off but next week starts a 1.5 week holiday.
I hope that you have a wonderful holiday!
That is awesome! You know of all the vacations we have taken, our best have been the ones where it is just us and the nature. No computers or phones or TV. And we love camping. Well, welcome back to reality!
Sandy, I agree. I don’t need expensive luxury to enjoy myself. The more remote, the better!
We only got a week off but there was much walking around National Trust estates and tree climbing (kids, not me, I have the vertigo opt out clause!). Can’t wait for warmer weather and chance to spend more time outdoors! Love the pics.
Teresa, I don’t attempt the tree climbing either! Let’s hope it is warm enough for picnics soon. ๐
This sounds like a wonderful break, so many fun things! Glad you enjoyed it all.
looks like a lot of fun was had Jackie ,all the best stu
The things moms and dads do for the kids…..looks like you were freezing out there.
Glad you had a good Easter. surely the weirdest (weather-wise) we’ve had in a long time!
It looks like great fun! Very adventurous. Glad you are not doing much reading, lol ๐
I so have to make those cream eggs now!
