This is the second week of the Blog Improvement Project. This week’s task is to brainstorm ideas, and then use them to create a new regular feature for our site.
I was trying to think of something new to do when I stumbled upon a link to this site. (Thanks Books and Movies!) In which you have to guess a book’s Amazon rating by it’s cover. This has inspired me to create a weekly bookish quiz for my blog.
I’m not sure how successful it will be, but I’ll give it a try!
In honour of my inspiration for this task, my first quiz will be “Don’t judge a book by it’s cover!!”
I’m off to look for a multiple choice quiz widget to use. Does anyone know where I can find one?

Hey Jackie, I’ve used Polldaddy.com once.
Bravo to you! I am soooo bad with this stuff. I can’t even figure out how to make my blog screen wider. It is so cramped I feel like I can’t fit anything on it. I am an HTML idiot…
Hi Jackie, I popped over from Joy’s blog. You have a great blog and I’ll be adding yours to my google reader. I just finished my first week task and am now ready for week 2! I am clueless about widgets, need to learn more as well. Sorry that I can’t help you.
What a great idea for a personal thing on the blog. I can’t wait to see what you figure out. And I know next to nothing about where to find such a widget 😉
Don’t judge a book by its cover… nice name. I can’t help you with the widget, unfortunately.
I like the idea a lot! Sounds fun and I think it will draw interest. Good job!!
Heavens! I just came back from that link in your post. That thing is addictive–and I’m rotten at judging books by their covers! I think you’ve got a good idea; unfortunately I don’t have the expertise to help you with it.
That sounds neat, polls and such are always fun. I use WordPress, and they have a built in polling thing that uses PollDaddy, I think. You can sign up for a free account, so that might be an option — http://www.polldaddy.com/
I love, love, love surveygizmo.http://www.surveygizmo.com/
I haven’t tried the others mentioned so they probably work just as well.
I actually really like the quiz idea… my brain cells are buzzin’ here. thanks!
Hi!
Great Idea! I’m awful at remembering movie names!! But I can, well most of the time, remember a book I read! Good Luck! Have a great day!!

[…] testing a new weekly feature for my blog, as explained in the Blog Improvement Project post below. I didn’t manage to find a quiz widget, so I can only really do one question at a time. […]
I’ve just posted my first quiz question:

Thank you to Kim and Joy for suggesting Polldaddy, it is really easy to use.
I hope you enjoy answering the questions, as much as I enjoy creating them!
I totally loved your quiz/poll idea… that I did my own exploring and came up with this post http://librarianismish.blogspot.com/2009/01/perfect-day-for-poll.html
using surveygizmo.com
I notied that on my mac the poll options don’t pop up and I have to click on the link that I attached to the post title, but in windows on my pc, the poll options DO show up.
IDK.
Hope you don’t mind my investigation on this idea. I’ve given you kuddos for it!
There is so new for me! Thank you!
