Many apologies for my online absence – my computer broke on Tuesday and so I have been unable to do any blogging. My television was also broken for the duration and so I enjoyed several technology-free days. I highly recommend that you indulge in short breaks from the media as it is amazing how much more can be fitted into each day.
Normal service will resume shortly.

Glad to see you’re back Jackie! I was without internet for a few days when we switched providers a couple years back and I was absolutely amazed at all the stuff I managed to do. It’s a huge time suck. As is TV really – I hope everything’s fixed now though!
Meghan, I was quite surprised by how lost I was without my computer at first, but after a day I adjusted and found I had so much more free time. I am always checking my emails or twitter feeds and it has shown me that this isn’t really needed. My TV is still broken, but I will try to have more Internet free days in the future.
I agree. Having some enforced time away from computer and TV is good for the soul!
It makes you appreciate quite a lot of things and when I wanted to find something out, rather than think ‘I will just google it’ I have to get the good old fashioned reference books out.
Jo, …but googling is so much faster 😉 I didn’t have anything I needed to look up in the last few days, but agree that being away from the computer for a while did more good than harm 🙂
I hope your computer and your TV are back in working order for good. It’s nice to have a forced break from all the electrical entertainments – so long as you know there’s an end in sight otherwise it can be a little stressful!
Good to see you back, Jackie!
Amy, The TV is still broken, but at least my boys can now watch things on the computer. I wouldn’t really mind if I had to live without TV, but my children love watching cbeebies. Hope it gets fixed soon.
I cringe at the thought of losing technology (even briefly). I would go into shock, I think. Hope to see you posting soon.
diane, Oh no. You really should try it some time – perhaps knowing that you could use it at any point would make the break easier? Go on – unplug everything 😉
I’m sure we’d all be amazed how much gets done without electronics to fill our time! Enjoy being unplugged!
Jenners, Yes. I’ll definitely be doing it more often. My house is so much cleaner than normal 🙂
It doesn’t sound right.. but I actually happy that you took a media break! What better time now than to go out under the sun, have a barbeque party and have fun!
The weather is lovely Jackie, I hope you are enjoying yourself ourdoors! 🙂
Jo, You’re right – the weather thas been perfect for it! I had one lovely morning in which I did nothing but sunbathe in the garden with a book – it felt like a real holiday and I have no idea why I don’t do it more often. This summer I will ensure I repeat it. 🙂
Enjoy the weather – some time without a laptop, a tv and a smart phone is good!
anothercookiecrumbles, Let’s hope this beautiful weather continues so we can enjoy being outdoors more. 🙂
