My favourites have been released in paperback!

Just a quick post to let you know that three of my favourite books from 2013 have now been published in paperback:

Far From The Tree: Parents, Children and the Search for Identity: A Dozen Kinds of Love

Far From the Tree by Andrew Solomon

This book will make you look at disability, parenting and society in a whole new light. The world would be a better place if everyone read it.

My Notorious Life

My Notorious Life by Kate Manning

An atmospheric book set in 19th century New York. It deals with the controversial subject of abortion in a sensitive and thought-provoking way. I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys intelligent story-telling.

 Kiss Me First

Kiss Me First by Lottie Moggach

One of the most modern books I’ve ever read. Its insights into social media use and online identity are so relevant to today’s society that it will make readers look at their online activity in a whole new light.

If you haven’t already, I hope this will encourage you to try them   😀

I really liked the first and third; the second is on my to-read list (and actually sitting on a pile next to me.) I hope the release of Far From the Tree in paperback will encourage those who passed it by because of its immense size and weight!

threegoodrats, It’s great to know you enjoyed them too! I know that size often puts people off books, but I don’t think Andrew Solomon wasted a word in that book. Fingers crossed I can persuade more people to try it now.

I agree! But when I recommend Far From the Tree to people who seem daunted by the size, I always tell them they can just read the introduction and then just the chapters that interest them. (Though secretly I think they won’t want to skip anything once they start reading!)

threegoddrats, Exactly! If everyone just read the introduction (and the final chapter) the world would be a far better place. I challenge anyone to just read that first section and not want to read the rest too 😉
