Michelle at 1 More Chapter is hosting the 1% Well-Read Challenge. The aim is to read 10 books from the 1001 Books You Must Read Before You Die list in the next 10 months.
My plan (subject to change!) is to read:
- Animal’s People by Indra Sinha
- Half of a Yellow Sun by Chimamanda Nzozi Adichie
- Mother’s Milk by Edward St Aubyn
- Snow by Orhan Pamuk
- The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver
- Disgrace by JM Coetzee
- The Virgin Suicides by Jeffery Euginides
- Empire of the Sun by J Ballard
- Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe
- To The Lighthouse by Virginia Woolf
Wish me luck!

Good luck! I’ve only read The Virgin Suicides. It’s one of my all=time favourites.
I recognize some of these! C.B. James RAVED about Half of a Yellow Sun, and I trust his judgement. I read Mother’s Milk a few years ago based on a review my husband read. It was OK, not bad but wasn’t blown away. I absolutely loved The Poisonwood Bible…I listened to it on audio. I am excited to read your reviews on all of them! Good luck!
Good luck!
I have read and enjoyed the last two 🙂
Yikes! Heavy reading ahead!
I don’t know why that came up as Beth Fb!!
Thanks for participating!
I hope to read Disgrace and The Poisonwood Bible as well.
Half of a Yellow Sun is really good. Adichie is one of my favorite authors.
Disgrace was one of the best books I read last year. I really like Coetzee’s style of writing. Got Life & Times of Michael K on my list.
